1/1/98 BOOK: Mention of Brenda Kahn

In a book called, "She Bop", by Lucy O'Brien, Brenda Kahn was mentioned in one sentence of the book. They were saying that whereas the focus of the 80's (in terms of alternative women artists) was due to their "quirkiness", the focus of the 90's is due to "ironic blues stylists" like Brenda Kahn and Sheryl Crow.
"I Don't Sleep, I Drink Coffee Instead" and "Mint Juleps and Needles" was originally released as part of the EP, Life In The Drug War Trenches. These two songs were produced by Brenda Kahn in Minneapolis.
Brenda Kahn bought her first guitar in a K-Mart. See K-Mart reference in Epiphany in Brooklyn credits.
Brenda Kahn was represented by a company called, "Asgard Promotions, Ltd." (London) in 1994.
References to Greenwich Village occurs in the following songs:

[2] My Lover: "He'd rather talk to the bums on Avenue B ..."
Note: David S. Zink (09/96) reports that these streets are actually in the Lower East Side, or Loisaida.
The name "Brenda" comes from the Old Norse root name of "Brenda" ... meaning "sword".
"Brenda" in Hawaiian translates to "Palenaka".
